Møntergade's history
In the heart of Copenhagen, where Gammel Mønt meets Møntergade, stand two historic buildings with deep roots in Danish gastronomy. One – the red corner where Restaurant Møntergade began – now houses the wine bar Apéro, while the other corner frames Restaurant Møntergade. Here tradition and the present meet in a kitchen and hospitality marked by solid craftsmanship, presence, and care.
Restaurant Møntergade's iconic lunch kitchen is based on classic Danish open sandwiches with a modern touch, while the evening kitchen offers a deep and atmospheric expression inspired by the Danish-French brasserie kitchen.
An experienced and solid team stands behind every service. What they all share is a love of classic Danish gastronomy, respect for the craft, and the desire to give guests a present and memorable experience – whether at lunch or in the evening.
The restaurateurs Simon Juhl Olesen, Rasmus Amdi Larsen, and Karina Pedersen make up the trio that since 2020 has run Møntergade with respect for history and an eye for renewal.
Today the Møntergade family also includes the wine bar Apéro, Bar Sportif, Møntergade Wine, and Møntergade Banquet – all side by side in the heart of old Copenhagen.
The team behind Møntergade: Simon Juhl Olesen, Karina Pedersen, Rasmus Amdi Larsen, Jacob Hundsdal (head chef evening kitchen), Betina Simonsen Madsen (head chef lunch kitchen), and Janni Horst Hansen (restaurant manager).
